2. Introduction

This manual is published in terms of Section 51 of PAIA. It sets out the procedure for requesting access to records held by PRO Alliance.

3. Guide of the South African Human Rights Commission

A guide to PAIA is available from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to assist individuals in exercising their rights.

4. Records Available Without a Request

Certain records are automatically available, such as:

  • Public website information
  • Published reports and newsletters

5. Records Available on Request

Records that may be requested in terms of PAIA include:

  • Company records
  • Financial records
  • Contracts and agreements
  • HR and employment records (subject to protection of personal information)

6. Request Procedure

  • Complete Form C (available from the SAHRC or Department of Justice).
  • Submit the form and the prescribed fee to the Information Officer.
  • The request will be evaluated in accordance with PAIA, subject to applicable grounds for refusal.

7. Grounds for Refusal

Requests may be refused if disclosure would involve:

  • Unreasonable disclosure of personal information
  • Harm to commercial or confidential information
  • Breach of legal privilege

8. Fees

Fees are prescribed by regulation. You may be required to pay a request and reproduction fee before records are made available.

9. Availability of this Manual

This manual is available on our website and at our offices, free of charge.
